The campaign to re-elect President Obama has begun. Marc Jacobs,
Derek Lam, Diane von Furstenberg and Beyonce are just a few of fashion’s
biggest leaders who have designed low-cost items that will be offered
as fundraising during a PR campaign.
Legendary designers,
celebrities and Fashionistas are putting their best foot forward to
assist President Barack Obama's re-election. As part of the new
campaign, 27 designers and celebrities were asked to design low-cost
fashion items, including both clothing and accessories. Not only will
these items help in fundraising, they will also play a crucial part in
the PR battle.
The designed items will be exposed on a
high-profile fundraising event that will be held in Chicago next month.
During the event, the new pop-up shop for Runway to Win will be
revealed.
Among the newly designed items – a T-shirt by Marc
Jacobs with the slogan “I Vote Obama” along with the designer's
signature. Beyonce and Tina Knowles have also chosen to design a printed
baby-sized T-shirt with both the President’s name and campaign logo
engraved.
Designers Diane von Furstenberg and Derek Lam have
chosen to design chic bags for the campaign. Lam designed a printed bag
with the slogan “Obama 2012”. Von Furstenberg has created two bags – one
of which is entirely red with the words “Obama 2012” and hearts on
opposite sides. The second bag has a more patriotic look, as the
designer used the American flag as the background. Along the red stripes
is written “Obama 12”, and instead of the classic 50 stars, von
Furstenberg uniquely created 50 heart shapes.
The high-fashion
event will be hosted by Vogue editor, Anna Wintour, who is a
world-renowned icon herself. Supermodels Iman and Chanel Iman are also
among the glamorous hosts of the evening. Whether Barack Obama will be
re-elected or not, this is truly a one-of-a-kind campaign the world is
waiting to see!
